Sutton Coldfield had several mills on pools within Sutton Park during the sixteenth. Later blades, gun barrels and tools and were manufactured in the area. Many wealthy industrialists in Birmingham built grand country homes in Sutton as the town prospered during the next two centuries
Sutton Coldfield developed as a commuter town for Birmingham with the introduction of the railways
